January 2015 Event
Open Educational Resources & unConference, Concord, NH
This event was a great opportunity for Ambassadors from ATI 2015 to reconnect with USNH colleagues as well as learn about open educational resources and just about any other academic technology in which they might be interested.
Following coffee and snacks, the morning session focused on an introduction to Open Educational Resources (OER). “OER are high-quality, openly licensed, online educational materials that offer an extraordinary opportunity for people everywhere to share, use, and reuse knowledge. They also demonstrate great potential as a mechanism for instructional innovation as networks of teachers and learners share best practices.” Speakers shared what OER is, who is using OER and how they did it.
After lunch (included), there was an “unConference” event where attendees determined and presented topics for small group sessions on any topic and not necessarily related to OER. Read more to learn about unConferences. (The unConference at ATI2014 was well-received!) Participants had an opportunity to share, learn and left the event invigorated with ideas and resources that can be used right away!
