Bryan Alexander

Bryan Alexander is an internationally-known, futurist, researcher, writer, speaker, consultant, and teacher, working in the field of how technology transforms education. He is also a self-admitted cat-herder. Bryan earned his PhD at the University of Michigan and taught literature, writing, multimedia, and information technology studies at Centenary College in Louisiana. Bryan also held several roles at the National Institution for Technology in Liberal Education, a nonprofit organization that works to help small liberal arts colleges and universities to integrate digital technologies.

In 2013, Bryan launched Bryan Alexander Consulting, and he consults throughout higher education in the United States and abroad. He publishes frequently, including the monthly report, Future Trends in Technology in Education. He also hosts the Future Trends Forum, a weekly, online forum with guests from all segments of the educational industry. Bryan is currently writing a book: Transforming the University in the 21st Century: The Next Generation of Higher Education.

Bryan was the keynote speaker at the 2018 January Event: Open Education: Be the Change. He contextualized open education in relation to the future trajectory of higher education and led attendees through an action-planning workshop at the end of the day. (Picture by Alan Levine).
