Bio: Director of the Cohen Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies as well as Professor of Holocaust and Genocide Studies at KSC. I am married to Pam and we have 2 married, adult children - Paul and Laura. Paul and his wife Brooke live in Tulsa, OK with their two boys, Parker and Brady, our only grandchildren. Laura lives in Fredericksburg, VA with her husband Alec. I am an alumnus of The University of Alabama and Emory University. I played varsity sports in college and enjoy playing the guitar. My academic training is in theology and religious studies. My interest in Holocaust and Genocide Studies began in college through the study of religion and literature via the work of Elie Wiesel.
My Instructional Challenge: In my Integrative Study courses students extend the intellectual reach of the course by reading additional texts for each other as collaborative group projects. They are charged with helping their classmates encounter the core questions, themes, and issues addressed in their texts during a 45 minutes segment of class. I want to explore digital strategies that my students can adopt and/or adapt for nurturing their classmates' engagement, analysis, and integration of the questions, themes and issues that they encountered in their reading for others.
