Mary Beth Ray
Bio: Dr. Ray holds a Ph.D. from Temple University's Mass Media and Communication Program. She is currently an Assistant Professor at Plymouth State University in the Department of Communication and Media Studies. Her research interests include emerging technology, creative industries, co-production, and qualitative research methods. She co-chairs the Internet Culture Area of the national Popular and American Culture Association (PCA/ACA).
My Instructional Challenge: The most pressing institutional challenges I would like to address include changing traditional course material so it is appropriate for an online class, as well as brainstorming ways for the students in that class to connect with one another. This semester I am teaching Communication Theory for the first time online. In the Fall 2015 semester I am teaching Communication Research Methods for the first time online. My instinct is that what works for a writing intensive course, will not be quiet the same as a research intensive course. I would love to use this time to learn and troubleshoot.
